Are there any websites or local stores besides the dealer that has a replacement armrest for a 2002 Jetta?

Q: How do i check the transmission fluid on my 2002 jetta??
I have a 2002 jetta with a turbo engine. How do you check the transmission fluid in it? I hear that when the car shifts hard and jerks alot it could be low on transmission fluid, but i have no idea where it is to check. Its an automatic with the triptronic thing. It also does not say anywhere in the manual.

A: The transmisson fluid is checked using a Factory Scanner. At 35 degrees, transmission fluid dribbles out the hole on the bottom of the transmission. You have two holes. One is to completely drain the transmission and the other one is to adjust the level. Jerking is a tell tale sign on a volkswagen that the transmission is bad. I replaced 6 a week at the dealer.

Q: What's wrong with my 2002 Jetta? It won't change gears until 6,000 rpm and I can't figure out why!
I'm having serious issues with my 2002 Jetta 2.0L It will only change from first to second gear when it reaches 6,000 rpm and then it drives at 3,500 rpm at 30 mph. Its a load of crap. It will only do this every once and a while too, so I start the day with the car running great and then by the afternoon I go to take off and its acting up again. I VAG-COMed it and received the following errors: Address 01: Engine Controller: 06A 906 032 FP Component: 2.0l R4/2V G 4072 Coding: 00003 Shop #: WSC 00066 3VWSB69M22M022901 VWZ7Z0A3847687 3 Faults Found: 18057 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from ABS Controller P1649 - 35-00 - - 17883 - EVAP Leak Detection Pump: No Signal P1475 - 35-00 - - 19497 - Powertrain Databus Implausible Engine Temp. I replaced the Coolant Temperature Senor (G2), but it is still giving me the same crap, only this time it seems to be all the time instead of intermittently. Its truly frustrating. The nearest VW dealer is 3 hours away and I can't drive it there when its acting like this. I'm at a lose and am looking for any kind soul who will shed some light on this for me. Thank you greatly in advance. ~Ben

Q: How to wire up a sound system in my 2002 Jetta?
My friends and I are going to do it on tuesday, so any help would be greatly appreciated... i have a 2002 Jetta, standard, and i'm going to hopefully put in my system. It's American Legacy, two 12" subs already in a box, and the amp is 800 W max power. There are some thin wires with the system already that i assume goes from the amp to the subs. My MAIN QUESTION is, what type of power cables etc. do i need to run from my battery to my amp, and also is it possible to run the system through my stock stereo, because i dont feel like buying a cd player because i have an i trip... thanks- Merry Christmas

A: I would think your best bet is to take it to a professional.

Q: My 2002 jetta needs a catalytic converter will it huirt to drive it till I can get it replaced?
Will it hurt to drive my 2002 vw jetta if it needs a catalytic converter

A: It will not hurt at all.Unless it clogged up then it can be harmful to your car as it will restrict airflow. The cat is there to reduce emissions .It is okay to drive without it unless the cops catch you.

Q: 2002 Jetta GLS stereo and heater/ac controls won't illuminate, any suggestions?
I have a 2002 Jetta GLS and the Monsoon stereo works but won't illuminate also the heater/ac controls don't illuminate. Does anyone know if both of these should illuminate? And what might be the cause of them not illuminating? All of the fuses were checked and all are good. A dead radio is a common problem in this vehicle and fuse 42 usually works.. My radio works just doesn't illuminate and neither does the ac/heater dials.

A: You probably have a simple fuse burnout. You'll need a special tool, any auto store has them, to find the correct fuse that may need to be replaced.

Q: How much do spark plugs for a 2002 jetta cost?
If i go and get new spark plugs for my jetta how much will a mechanic charge me?

A: You can put in plugs yourself. Its really simple Go to autozone and specify your vehicle. They will have what you need Plugs are around $1.50 - $8 bucks depending on what you want. All you really need is Bosch brand platinum or whatever. Also if you have a Vr6 (6 cylinder), you have 2 extra plugs than a 4 cylinder thus increasing the price. It wont be that much. The wires and distributor cap are what cost the most. Wires can cost from about $50-$150. When you get wires, its just as simple to also buy a distributor cap. Having a mechanic do it might cost you $25-50 to do. Its a simplistic task.

Q: What is the order of the wires on a 2002 jetta vr6 on a coilpack wire harness? The 5 Pin connector?
What is the order of the wires on a 2000 jetta vr6 on a coilpack wire harness? yes it works fine i was asking cause of the updated connector email me gilphil@verizon.net

A: just so you know last time I answered this one i pulled the diagram straight off elsaweb. fyi, elsa is the website vw techs use for info. now i read this question....are you working on a 2000 jetta or 2002? I read your other question as well. if i remember correctly the faults were for stage output 2 and misfires on 2 cylinders. im not really sure what to tell you. make sure you bought the right coil as there are 2 different ones that look almost exactly the same. if your old coil works fine then the wires are correct. There must be something about the new coil. there is not much to installing a coil, plug it in and put the wires where they go.

Q: What is the best kind of gas to put in my 2002 Jetta 1.8T?
I just bought an '02 Jetta 1.8T and I have read and heard conflicting stories about what gas to use. Is it Diesel (as mentioned on Edmonds.com) or Premium Gas?

A: OH MY GOD DON'T PUT DIESEL IN IT!!!!! As your owner's manual will state, 91 octane or better. I have an '03 GTI 1.8T and I ALWAYS use 93 octane. But I also have an ECU remap by Revo, so it doesn't run so good with anything less. 93 will give you more power and better gas mileage.

Q: My 2002 jetta has water getting into the drivers side floor board when it rains?
Its going into the car from the drivers side, and its a real pain in the butt. I think it might be the a/c drain being stopped up, but i can't find it to fix it. The waters coming in almost from the side, like right under the fuse box, but i cant really tell. Please help.

A: Water can be getting in your car via the Rain drains that are under the hood vents on the Passenger as well as the drivers side. They get clogged up with leaves debris and stuff. Also is there rust around the Windshield on the corner. With the hood up you need to check the plenum (where the windshield wiper motor is, as the drains may be there or you may see a grommet (black rubber ) is missing or cracked. You may also have a hole in the firewall or wheel well that water is migrating in, that you may need to check. If you have a sun roof, then check those drains too.

Q: How do I clean the exterior of the engine on my 2002 Jetta GLS Turbo?
I am planning on selling the car and the comonents under the hood are extremly dirty. I would like to clean all the visible parts before selling the car. Whats the best way to do this?

A: Use a pressure washer at a car wash and most of the time they'll have an engine degreaser setting so spray that on first and let it sit for about 2 minutes then use the regular water to spray it off.

Q: How do I work the cruise control on my 2002 Jetta?
I got it a few weeks back and because the previous owner didn't provide a driver's manual I'm still trying to figure certain features out. I use cruise control a lot normally, but unfortunately I haven't been able to discover where the switch is in my new car. Thank you for your help.

A: It depends if you have steering wheel controls or not. Nonetheless, to turn the cruise on you flick the switch on the left stalk (turn signal) to the left. Then if you have steering mounted controls you press set when you reach the speed you want. It should hold the speed now. If you don't have those controls on the wheel you use the set button and other cruise features the side of the left stalk. You can toggle the speed of the car by pressing the up down or stop by pushing cancel.
