Q: Is a 2003 Accord ex a good choice for a car?
Is a 2003 Accord EX a good car to get? Does anyone have any reviews or advice at all?
A: Honda's have the following going for them:
1. They have very high resale values, because they are excellent cars.
2. They have a great reliability record.
3. They have good safety features and crash test results
4. They are economical
So, yeah - if it's priced appropriately (look at Edmunds.com for help there), then that would be an outstanding car. Also, it should probably have no more than about 45,000 miles on it for that year of car, and you need to make sure it was never wrecked.
Q: If hondas quality is so good then why does their 2003 accord have so many transmission problems?
heres the proof: http://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2003/index.shtml
Listen i dont need everybody getting down my throat about this i know everyones not perfect but if hondas one of the most reliable automobile companies than it shouldnt even be that bad i looked at the toyotas and they werent near as that bad
A: Honda's automatic transmissions from 1999-2003 had nearly 100 percent failure rate due to design flaws limiting circulation of the transmission fluid (long story). There was a class action lawsuit about this which resulted in Honda extending the warranty on these transmissions to 105000 miles. Also a related lawsuit claimed the odometers on some of these cars run up miles too fast, so I believe the warranty is good until 109K. Even beyond that most dealer will work with you on "good will" repairs, as these cars have known issues. Supposedly they replace the transmissions with ones that dont have the same issues, but when I owned a 2003 Acura TL (made by Honda), I was getting my transmission replaced for free almost every other oil change along with free loaner cars. Other than that they are good cars. Bottom line, if you're looking to buy a Honda/Acura year models 99-03, stick with a manual transmission.
Q: How can I increase HP in my 2003 accord coupe?
I already have a cold air intake and preformance exhust system what other mods can i Make?
A: turbocharger, performance ignition system, hi-flow injectors.
Q: Is there a good intake/dry air filter for a 2003 Accord 4 cylinder? Also an exhaust that's not too loud?
It's only a 4 banger and I'm a senior citizen but I would like to get a little more oomph without sounding like the souped-up Civics running around. A little louder than stock is okay. A hornets nest in a tuna can is not. I recognize that to get less restriction there has to be some increase in noise level.
A: Mines an 03 accord, but its a V6...
I have an AEM v2 Intake, and it does not use oil..less mess, easy to clean, unlike the K&N intake.
My exhaust is a Greddy Evo2. It kinda sounds like an Infinti G35. Not a rice rocket, and not quiet...just a nice grrrr. I think around 2-4 rpms is the loudest, and sometimes sets off sensitve alarms in parking structures. I installed both of them on the same day, and noticed imediate increase in horsepower, torque, and better gas milleage. I'm getting an avg of 30-35 more miles per full tank.
I love my intake-exhaust combo, but not sure if they make those parts for the 4cylinder, or if you will like it. Hope that helps -Good Luck.
Q: Detailed directions to changing rear brake disks on 2003 Accord EX?
Can anyone provide detailed directions to changing rear brake disks on a 2003 Accord EX. What I found on the web wasn't descriptive enough and the pictures provided didn't look like the brakes on my car. This would be the first time I attempt something of the sort, hence the need for accurate details.
Thanks!
Both answers are great. How can I chose Best Answer?:(
A: Your driving a nice pretty expensive Long Lasting vehicle, do NOT mess with the brakes, go to a local brakes place like Lentz or something, buy the guys a pop and have them install everything, watch them do it through the windows ask them to explain a little bit of what they are doing, THEN if you feel confident enough pick up a Chilton manual so you can do it yourself next time, pay the little extra money for experience, brakes arent an air filter or changing the oil, they need to be perfect. It's a good idea to get the chiltons manual anyways because it will help you understand your vehicle more than you know, also you have a honda, these cars are not built to be played with by the owners, they are made to last with only small routine maintenance, but seriously dont mess around with ur brakes if you've never done it before
Q: Accord 2003 Owners... How do I reset my maintence required light?
I don't have my instruction manual and I know there is a simple way to reset the maintence required light. I have recently had an oil change and they didn't reset it. I know that after every few thousand miles it needs to be reset and doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with the car.
It is a 2003 Accord EX-VL
Also... does anyone know if you can make a backup of your navigation disk? Will it work?
A: Hi.
Push in the odometer reset button on the instrument cluster, then turn the ignition key to the on posistion, hold it untill the light flashes several times and goes out. all set for another 5k miles!
Q: how good is the voice activated navigation system on hondas? i am considering purchasing a 2003 accord with on
is it easy to use, is it clear voice wise.
A: I have an 04 Accord and the navi and voice features are very responsive and the way the "Chick voice" gives oral directions is very clear and helpful. I have reciently hacked the startup files on my Navi to display my website logo instead of the space pic that displays Honda Navigational System. I also changed the text in the disclaimer. When your looking at the car... goto the trunk and open the DVD box and take out the DVD... Note if there are any scratches on it and what year the DVD was made... I believe the DVD should be Orange. If the DVD was made in year 2002... I think it will be cause the DVD that comes stock is always 1 year behind the cars year. If your worried about the Navi DVD maps being out of date... Don't worry... They come out with new versions every year and you can buy them. I still use my stock DVD from 2003 and it works fine.
Q: Can 7 inch headrest screens fit in a 2003 accord coupe ?
I want to put 2 7 inch headrest screens in my 03 accord coupe and was wondering if they would fit
A: No, they are too big.
Q: Which Car should i get? 2004 Acura Tsx or 2003 Honda accord v6 coupe?
I deciding on two Cars.Which is the better car?
04' Acura tsx 5AT or the 2003 Accord v6 coupe 5AT
Obviously both are going to be used.90k or less
Opinions?
Anyone cross shopped these before?
A: Get the Acura, it's sexier.
I think that's a common comparison considering they're close in price even when new. If the V6 is really that important to you, that's one thing, but the TSX interior is nicer and the car looks sharper from the outside.
Q: 2003 Accord v6 transmission problems?
I have a 1998 accord v6 and I am looking @ the 2003 and 2004 v6 accords, but I heard they have transmission problems. My 98 accord transmisson had to be replaced and I do not want to go through that again! Anybody know about the 03-04 transmissions?
I saw that there was a recall on the 2003-2004 transmissions like there was on the late 90's early 00' models. I clicked on "recalls" on this website below and I saw it on a few others as well...
http://www.cars.com/go/recalls/rclMain.jsp?year=2003&mkid=18&mdid=212&mdname=Accord&mkname=Honda&pt=pop&fill=results&aff=national
A: The '03 and '04 transmissions were rated excellent. Only transmission problems existed in the late 90's and the 2000 model.
Q: How can i get my 2003 accord with GPS to accept subs because it has no port for them and keep my GPS?
I know that if I install a new head unit I could get it to work but that will make my GPS not work. So I'd really like to know if there's some other options I have. Possibly a product that can make this work. thank you
A: What you are looking for is a High/Low crossover. What you do is take the signal off of one of your rear speakers and wire it into the crossover's "high" input, and you'll get an rca type "low" output to plug your sub amp into. You can leave your rear speaker hooked up, just splice the wire with an extension.
You will need to play with the gains on both the crossover and the amp to match up with the output/built-in equalizer on the head, but once configured it should sound great. Possibly better than a new head, since the stock radio's levels are setup to match the contour of your interior.
Q: Question e85 ethonal would it work in a Honda Accord 2003 or bad idea?
I know that regular unleaded gas is the only gas that is to be used in a Honda so my question truly is would it mess the engine up or harm it?
A: If your honda is NOT labeled FLEX FUEL - you cannot use E85.
There's 2 facts you should know about E85
(1) E85 is 85% alcohol. Alcohol is corrosive to your regular gas tank and gas line
(2) Alcohol has only 2/3 the energy content. What that means is you only get 2/3 the mileage as compare to gasoline. So if your car used to get 30 MPG on gasoline, you would only get about 20 MPG on E85. Not any cheaper.
Good Luck...
Q: Anyone know how to fix a light problem in a 2003 Accord?
the center console that tells me information about music, temperature, time and other various things is recently unreadable. It is black enough where you cant see anything but everything is workable. I have looked through the manual, especially at the fuse part but i just dont know where to start. thanks
A: Should have bought an extended warranty! Especially on a foreign car. If something is wrong...they are very expensive to fix!
Q: What car is better to purchase? a 2004 pontiac grand prix or a 2003 honda accord?
I'm buying a car and just wondering which is a better car.
A: Two completely different classes of car. The accord is a mid-size sedan, the GP is a full size. The GP will likely have more power (depending on model) but get worse mileage. The GP will also have more room and be heavier. They have completely different handling characteristics, the GP has a lot of body roll because it is heavier, but it also gets better traction, rides smoother on the highway, and is less prone to being blown around by wind. The accord is lighter, handles stiffer, but is more prone to losing traction.
As far as reliability, GM has had a rough streak in the last 10 years so I'd lean toward the Accord. I doubt either would ever leave you stranded but the GP will start having electrical glitches with windows, cruise control, etc. a lot sooner than the Accord. Of course this is all dependent on mileage and condition. Being garage kept makes a huge difference in how the accessories hold up.
BTW Grand Prix's aren't even available with a 4 cylinder so don't listen to that other idiot that posted after me. The Honda Accord is not, and never has been a Saturn. Saturn is owned by GM, they are not affiliated with Honda in any way.
