Q: are the wiring harnesses for a 1999 civic lx and ex the same?
I bought a salvaged vehicle and the door was switched with one of a different year or model Im not sure. I cant work the power locks because the harness does not match the plug. I found one for a 1999 civic ex but I dont know if it will also work on the lx. Any suggestions?

A: the interior wire harnesses are all different bc of the motor. the lx is a non-vtec and the ex has the vtec motor so when they made them they made 3 different wire harnesses bc of the dx, lx, and ex. but for the doors from a ex to a lx are the same bc they are powered unlike the dx model.

Q: Touching up a scratch on a 1999 civic lx?
I've got a few scrapes on a 1999 civic lx. The scratch is such that I can see the surface beneath the paint. Is it ok to use a rubbing compound (I got 3m one from the store)? I've washed the car already and was planning to clean the surface area before applying the compound and then waxing later. Is this the right path to follow? Any advice would be welcome as I've never done this before.

A: Dupli-color has a special chip and scrape repair kit for this issue it runs about $15.00 for the basic kit but you need to by the correct touch up paint color to go with it too. About $5.00 for color paint and another about $5.00 for the clear top coat for it ... But about $35 and a little time and TLC on your part is alot cheaper than that body or detail shop will charge i recommend using the dupli-color spray cans instead of touch up bottles and brush ... although with this kit both get great results... http://www.duplicolor.com/products/repair.html using this I can do a proper paint job service repair and even experisenced body men can't find the areas I've repaired.. Hi, i want to buy my first car in a few months. What is better and will last longer and will look nicer. Either a 1999 civic is with a V8 engine turbo kt, bidy kit, spoiler, exaust and new air intake. It will have around 500 hp. Or a 2006 civic si. The 2006 will be a lot of money so i couldn't get a lot of things for it. if i get the 99 i will be making the modification.

Q: how can I make my honda civic lx 1999 show me the ecu codes?
My service engine light is on, and I've read that you can jump a cable and make it flash a ecu code, I called the dealer but they charge too much just to tell you why the light went on. I've read older models you just jump two cables but I can't find those two cables on my 1999 civic lx. Pleas help...

A: You can TRY whatever you like but the easiest way if your too cheap to take care of it the right way is to stop buy AutoZone, they will scan it for free and then try to sell you everything under the sun. Just remember.......your car is your freedom, dont treat it cheaply, it will leave you stranded when you need it most.

I bought a 1999 Civic Si, and it didn't come with the original keys, and I was wondering if they come standard with keyless entry. If so, I was thinking about purchasing a remote off of ebay. Is there anyway to look in my car to see if the keyless entry feature is installed before I buy a remote?

im looking to drop a B18 itr in a 1999 civic si but im getting differnent info, some tell me i dont need B series engine mounts and some say i do just wondering what i actually need for a 1999 civic si canadian version

A: Other then small items such as The CDM Si has different rear symbol, day light running headlights, gauge cluster in kilometers, I think thats the major things thats all. You wont need B-serious tranny more motor mounts since this is a B16 Bserious. But for stiffer mounts look at hasport.com, on that note the Type R motor is amazing and if you are looking on going na, you can get a B20 block a mild built motor in that matter would cost less then a ITR swap and push out more TRQ and more HP. Q: Windshield Wiper Blades Stopped Working - 1999 Honda Civic Hatchback?
The windshield wipers on my 1999 civic stopped working out of the blue. I tried changing the fuse and still nothing. I'm not sure if it's the wiper motor either because when I turn my wipers on I hear the motor going - but my blades stay still. Any ideas ??

A: It is possible that they need to be tightened down. There is a bolt where the wiper arm meets the motor. Take it off and look inside and make sure that the groves did not get stripped. If they are you may need a new wiper arm.

Q: 1999 Civic SiR in need of an engine swap, what types of engines will fit into my car?
I know that the DOHC 1.8L is the type that was in there before, but I was wondering if there are any others. I heard something about a B18 engine fitting in there, but I am not very familiar with cars. Anyone out there know what other types of engines i should be looking for?

A: 1.8? it must have had an engine swap previously, and if it has a B18 then no reason to change, but you might have meant DOHC 1.6, the standard SiR had the B16A2. the choices, or most commonly swapped engines are as follows, they all go in, some requiring more work than others, JDM ECU's should work on your chipped keys. B16A2 (thats what you should have now) B16B @ 185bhp (ek9 civic type-r, JDM) H22a @ 197bhp (212 JDM) from prelude SiR B18C4 @ 170bhp (civic MB6 VTI-S) B18C1 @ 170bhp (acura integra GSR) B18C5 @ 187bhp (UKDM honda integra type-r) B18C @ 195bhp (JDM honda integra type-r DC2) K20A @ 200bhp (212 JDM) honda civic type-r EP3 K20A @ 220bhp ( JDM honda integra DC5) B-series will be the easiest fit, H and K will be more work, ive been in a civic EJ9 hatch with a JDM B18C, and its a 0-60 in 6 sec car, the B series is the best in my opinion, fantastic VTEC engines.

id really like to know, and an explanation would be nice, also if theres a diff between 1996-1998 civic sorry but im not fucking retarded, i know the difference between the 96-98 and 99-00, so there is absolutely no chassis difference in the 99 as opposed to the 2000?
