Q: How To Install A Water Pump For A 1990 Accord?
i have a 1990 honda accord, 2.2l 5 spd standard, and my water pump went on it, and i was wonder if there is a diagram out there somere on how to replace it or how to take it out, cuz it is in the most stupidest spot ever, if you know were i could find a diagram on how to do so could you please help me?
A: You don't want to do it. Water pumps that are driven by the timing belts should not be done by amateurs since precise alignment of the camshaft(s), crankshaft, balance shaft, water pump is critical. You should really take it to a trusted mechanic otherwise you can put yourself in a world of hurt if you attempt it on your own. Does the term "new engine" mean anything for you? Not being rude, just honest.
Q: What kind of oil for 1990 Accord and how much?
I got a 1990 accord 4 cylinder auto, tht now needs anoil change,
How much oil will it need with a new filter and what kind.
The engine has like 178000 miles but sounds and runs like new.
im think 10w-30.
A: yes use 10w-30 with that many miles and usually 4 to 5 qts. of oil with a filter change.
Q: 1990 Accord Starts but immediately dies. Any ideas?
I hae a 1990 Honda Accord DX 5-spd. The car has had some trouble starting recently, but its intermittent. In the past, you could just wait a few minutes and it would start right up. My problem now is the car turns over fine and starts normal, but it dies after a few seconds. The car has approximately 180,xxx, has about 1/4 tank of gas, fuel pump is working.....any ideas?
Thanks!!
A: Well if the vehicle starts up and runs for a few seconds means you have fire, and some fuel, air, and compression.
Reasons why your car wont stay running could be a number of possibilities.
- As Previous posts, your car doesn't have the electrical energy to stay running, which I doubt. (You may have to charge your battery again, since you have tried starting it a few times).
- You have bumbed sensor, that is sending a signal to the ecu to shut off.
- Don't know if you know how to check the ECU if it's throwing a code or not.
Some Possibilities
- Your Igniter has gone bad and is malfunctioning
- Cap and Rotor maybe
- Spark Plug Wires old and need to be replaced
- Fuel Filter has a small clogg, Their cheap and easy to do, and part of normal routine maintenance tune up
- Ground Connections may need a little cleaning
- Fuel Pressure not there after running for a few seconds (Doubtful)
- Your Spark Plugs could get be shot (Maybe)
If that doesnt work, email me, and I'll give you some other suggestions.
Q: What would be the best engine to put in a 1990 accord lx?

Q: what would be the best engine to put in a 1990 accord lx?
am looking for performance , around 200 hp. the accord is a two door 5 speed.
A: if you're only looking for 200 HP look for a turbo, it should get you close if not above 200 HP. by the way 200HP will get you about low 15 second quarter mile times
Q: How do I change the oil on a Honda 1990 accord?
2 more questions. How much does an oil filter cost? How bad is it to add new motor oil without doing an oil change?
A: The link below will lead to an archive of do-it-yourself car maintenance articles on the Honda website.
So far as the price of an oil filter, it depends. Price varies depending on quality, and even on how popular the brand happens to be. I usually only pay 5 to 8 dollars US for my filters, though.
Adding new oil without changing out the old isn't bad, exactly. It will even prevent catastrophic failure like your engine seizing up if there is a small oil leak and your car is running low.
The heat from your engine will cause the oil to break down, however. That, along with minute metal shavings and other dirt like carbon deposits, eventually build up in the oil. This causes your oil to become thick and to form a paste. This thickening oil will cause friction and increased wear, reducing your mileage and increasing the chance of needing a major repair due to something wearing out.
Have your oil changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. It is the cheapest way to extend the life of your car and increase gas mileage. This saves you money in the long run.

Q: My ecu fuse burns when I try to turn on my 1990 accord which wont start. Could it be the main relay?
A: try reading this.http://techauto.tripod.com/
Q: 1990 Accord. I'm told it has a rebuilt 1992 Accord engine. How can I verify this? ?
The car itself has 261k. 5-speed Manual transmission shifts smoothly, engine seems to run and drive fine. I am told that the '92 Accord engine was put in at 200k, but I don't know how many miles were on it previously. How can I check to see if it is a rebuilt engine?
A: What difference does it make? No matter what, it's Old Junk.
Q: How do you fix the lil thing that shoots out the water onto the windshield of a 1990 accord?
A: if it's plugged up you will have to take a paperclip and ream the orface holes out where the water squirts out onto the windshield, you can also take the hoses off the squirters and blow compressed air through the lines to clean them, if this doesn't work make sure the washer motor is working.
Q: i have a 1990 accord and it only have about 125 hp. how can i add more horsepower?
i am not willing to spend a lot of money on it though. maybe about 100 dollars. what can i do?
A: Proabably nothing short of working on it yourself. Either get yourself a new car cause your sick of it being slow OR dont bother because you want to impress people.
You might not be able to afford it but look for a newer car, something that usually has a good resale value but is selling. Look for someone who is desperate to sell their car, they usually have a low price. Id say that an older version of a BMW would be a good investment becuase so many people like them AND they are reliable. Downside, maintenance. Its not too bad but its more than a Honda Accord...

Q: I have a 1990 Hoanda Accord and the tranny makes a loud click when its put into park what is it?
This has been going on for about a year now. It sounds like a pin dropping or slamming into place. It happens about half of the time. This is getting really annoying, what is it? Is it worth fixing? If so I will be doing it myself. Please don't tell me to bring it to a shop, looking find the problem with out getting ripped off.
A: Look at it this way, leave it untill it breaks the go get a used tranny for fifty buck, spend a sunday swapping them out and be on your way.
Q: how do i remove my accord 1990 dx front speakers?
