Q: How dangerous is it to drive a honda accord with 140,000 miles with the origonal timing belt?
The 2000 honda accord still runs great, but I havn't gotten around to change the timing belt. I am waiting till I have enough cash to buy the water pump and the belt. But I am WAY over due for the timing belt change. Do you think I shouldn't drive the car?

A: Get that belt done! Toyota and Honda are the biggest timing belt offenders, but here's the difference. You blow the timing belt on your Toyota, you get towed to the shop and pay for a timing belt replacement. You blow the timing belt on your Honda, you ruin your pistons and valves, so now you're either replacing much of the engine or getting a junkyard engine. The Honda's have what is called an interference engine, which means the pistons crash upward into the heads, damaging internal engine components, the Toyota has a non-interference engine, so the piston stops short of damaging everything. If you completely baby the car while driving, try to keep it running when possible to avoid starting it, and get the freaking timing belt done ASAP, you should be OK, but since its inside the engine, there's no way to know. You might be hanging on by a thread right now or the belt may appear fine. Just get it done, get it done, get it done!!!

A: unchesquirne

Q: How long can I expect my Honda Accord 03 EX to last with proper maintenance and care?
I know honda's don't breakdown easily. But how long can I expect it to last with proper maintenance?

Q: How much will it cost to replace transmission seals on a 95 honda civic?
I'm thinking of buying this 95 honda civic around 80k miles, but the seller says the transmission seals need to be replaced and I have no idea what that means. Is the car it worth it for $3000 or will I end up spending waaay more?

A: $3000 is way to high for that car, even if the transmission didn't leak. You'd spend another thousand to replace the seals, and half the time they still leak after the job.

Q: How many miles can a 1998 Honda Accord have before it is no longer in good condition?
How long can a 1998 honda acoord engine last?

A: Well it really depends on the person owning it. How he maintained and take care of the whole car. It also have a factor on the way a driver drives. Mileage is not a basis for car's life. You can have a low mileage car with a poor condition engine and rusted body. Hope this helps!

Q: What is the lifetime expectancy of a Honda motorycle engine?
I was considering a 01' Honda Shadow Spirit 1100cc bike with 17,000 miles on it. Price was 4grand. Bike was very clean, sounded beastly. How long do those engines last? Is the buy worth it?

A: Man, i've heard...not true or not that Honda motorcycle engines can go up and over 100,000 miles...but I guess that all depends on how you ride, and how well you maintain your bike. Maintenance is key. I've never seen a bikes mileage over 50,000 miles....but i'm sure they are out there. Price sounds a tad bit high though, with that year and mileage. Chris - CBR 600rr

I have a 1991 Honda Accord with 75,000 miles on it and am planning on driving from Dallas, TX to Dayton, OH this December for Christmas. I just had my battery replaced and regularly have my oil changed. What else should I have done before my trip or in general to keep my car working well?

Q: What are the differences between the different Honda engine series?
I want to know, basically, every difference between the different Honda engines. So any info you have on the B, D, H, J, and K (and any others I might be missing) would be amazing.

A: Basically "A-Z" for Honda Engine Codes is Similar to this: A-Series Came in the Older Accords/Preludes. and Acura Vigors (non-US), these engines some of which were carburetor and the other half were fuel injected (for more specific info search wikipedia for honda a engine link below) B-Series is WAY more common than the A Series, B-series some are VTEC some are not, they came in anything from Japanese Domestic Market CR-X's/Civic's To The Integra's. Even Some Del Sols had B16s, The 99-00 Civic Si (or Sir Canada) was equipped with a B16A2.(search honda b engine on wiki) C-Series is the V6 Engine that came in the 94ish Honda Accords. D-Series is what came in most Civic's Crx's Del Sol's. Mostly all are Single Over Head Cam (SOHC) with the exception of the D16A8/9 or DOHC ZC (same thing basically) E-Series is what came in the 70's Civic's or sometimes called CVCC's. till about 85ish (guessing). F-Series is basically the same thing as a D-series would be to a civic, but for the accord chassis, It would be considered the Big Block of Honda SOHC engines, this was in most accords/some preludes. F and H series motors share the same mounting points as well so it would be ideal for someone to swap a H22 into a F-series Accord. G-Series engine is an inline 5 cylinder gasoline engine, originally used in the 1992 Acura Vigor, Honda Rafaga, Honda Ascot and Honda Inspire. (quoting wiki) H-Series is what primarily came in Accords/Preludes, these engines are the DOHC VTEC version of Honda's F-series engines, there is also a F20B which is a destroked version of the H22 (identical almost) it was designed to be for racing under the 2.0 liter class. I-Series Doesnt exist to my knowledge J-Series is the V6 engines that replaced the C-series i have seen in Accords. K-Series is what Many Newer Honda's Use, ie the Acura RSX/Honda Integra, Civic Si, Accord 4 cylinder, Acura RDX, Acura TSX, Honda Element, Honda CR-V, Acura CSX (canadian civic) its newer i-VTEC technoledgy, plus DOHC. L-Series is only for the Japanese Market Honda Fit's. M-Series does not exist yet N-Series is one of the rarest honda engines, they are Diesel or i-CTDi (Intelligent Commonrail Turbocharged Direct injection) O-P-Q = do not exist yet R-series is what comes in the newer 06+ civic's, crv, and accords (08+), they are iVTEC technology as well, but are single cam. S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-and Z series dont exist to my knowledge.

For the following years: (USDM VTEC Models only) 1992-1995: D16Z6 SOHC VTEC 1996-2000: D16Y8 SOHC VTEC 1997?-? : B16A3 (Del Sol VTEC only, very rare) 1999-2000: B16A2 DOHC VTEC (Civic Si model only) 1996-2001: H22A DOHC VTEC (Prelude) 2002?+ K24? DOHC VTEC (Accord, CRV, Element) (not exactly sure on year with this one) 2001-2005: D17? SOHC VTEC 2002-2005: K20A3 DOHC iVTEC (Civic Si model only) 2006+ : R18? SOHC iVTEC 2006+ : K20Z3 DOHC iVTEC (Civic Si model only) These are the engine codes found on the Honda lineup, these engines are also used in the Acura lineup as well on various models. Primarily the B & K Series on the Integra, RSX & TSX. I beleive thats about it. This is all off the top of my head. I didnt list the non-VTEC motors since you asked which wre VTEC.
