Q: 2000 Mustang?
What type of gas does the base mustang use, not the GT? Thx.
A: All mustangs can run on every grade. The computer adjusts the fuel ratio based upon Oxygen sensor and MAF data. Ford recommends high octane in the GT because it makes more power. If you have a supercharged version, the high octane is recommended in all cases because it helps to prevent detonation, but this is beyond your question...
Q: will 2000 mustang transmission work in a 1998 mustang?
I have a 6 cylinder 98 mustang and its transmission is going bad and is having some problems. I am wondering if i can replace it with the transmission from a 6 cylinder 2000 mustang.
Also i have already put the rear end from the car i am getting the transmission out of(2000) in my car(1998). And it works fine on my 98.
A: yes they will work fine but check the gear ratio in the rear end
Q: How to remove seatbelt knobby things off seats in a 2000 Mustang?
I have a 2000 Mustang. I want to put seat covers on it, but can't because of the seatbelt knobby things. Does anyone know how to get them off, besides breaking them off?
A: They just pull straight off but yes, there are times you actually wind up breaking them trying to get them off. Usually a scredriver prying behind has helped in the past but no guarantees
Q: Where is best place to find good 2000 mustang body needing engine and/or transmission?
Have a 2000 mustang with front right damage but interior is excellent, convertible top excellent, wheels, tires...everything is super except front right but shop says cost too much to repair. Would like to find a same year car needing engine, trans, maybe some interior parts, etc. cheap enough to combine the two.
A: In the car adds. You'll need to find something that's pretty trashed. AutoTrader will have people sell cars for parts because they blew the engine. The search will take a while and if you're diligent and patient you'll be successful.
Q: What needs to be done to clone a 2000 Mustang GT with a standard 2000 Mustang?
I'm considering buying a 2000 Mustang, and would like to clone it to a GT. Other than the engine, what cosmetic differences are there in the GT such as interior/exterior from the standard issue mustang?
A: A LOT more money than it's worth to simply just go out and buy a 2000 Mustang GT. You would need to change the rear axle and entire suspension assembly since the V6 models use a 7.5" rear axle, while the GT uses an 8.8". The interior upgrades needed would be the seats and the entire instrument cluster. The tach and speedometers are V6 and GT specific. The engine/transmission/wiring harness and the PCM would have to be changed also. On the exterior, the front and rear bumper fascias are also different. All that said, the cost to have this done, you could've purchased TWO Mustangs and have money left over. Hope this helps.
Q: What gear ratio should I get for my 2000 Mustang v6?
I have a 2000 Ford Mustang v6 automatic with over-drive. I found about 6 different gears I could get for the 7.5" differential. I was wondering which one was the best for quickness off the line and/or overall performance for normal street use and highway use. 3.08, 3.27, 3.45, 3.73, 4.10, and 4.56 are the ones I have found.
A: I get this question a lot. The first thing I ask in return is what they plan to do with the car. You have supplied me with what I need to know and I can tell you that the 3.73 will be your best choice. It will give you the initial acceleration that you desire, but it will also leave your highway cruising speed relatively untouched. This is good for two reasons, you will get out of the hole quicker and when you get to cruising speed, you won't be running 5000rpm at 70mphs.
I would suggest something like the Motive Performance Plus gears:

Along with that you will want to order a bearing kit, so you can have all the gaskets, shims, bearings, etc. that you will need to replace while you are in the rear end. That kit can be found here:

Hope this helps, Good luck!
Q: 2000 mustang?
When i accelerate I have to slowly step on the gas pedal because it will choke it has to slowly build up speed, and sometimes when im on the freeway it will go from 70 mph to 35mph and theres really nothing i can do to get it to go faster if I keep stepping on the gas it will choke! Anyone know what my problem is? How do i fix it?
A: sounds like it is starving for gas, if its leaning out it could burn up
Q: How much should a 2000 mustang rush should be?
Yeah I want too know this, because someone is selling me a 2000 mustang rush, with 75,000 miles, leather seats and everything, nice rims, good paint, standard transmission and its convertible they want 12,000 dollars for the car
I think they done some work to da engine
A: Do you mean Roush? If so what stage? Stage 2 is not supercharged from Roush only Stage 3. I have a '99 stage 2 with about 15,000 miles and paid 17K six years ago w/ less than 10K miles. You have to remember that the bank sees it as a 2000 Mustang so they will probably only loan about 7,000 on it...maybe. The engine on a stage 1 or 2 is a stock 4.6L. Stage 3 is supercharged with a different front air dam and some extras. The suspension, ground effects, and Roush rims are expensive and expensive to replace. I have bought many parts from Roush and it is crazy what you have to pay for the item to have the name on it. Make sure it is a real deal Roush. The door jam should have a number sticker on it to certify it. A lot of people think these cars are "race cars" and have thrashed them pretty good. I would take the car to a good mechanic and have them check it out first. If the car has Roush rims make sure the tires are in good shape. I ordered tires from a local tire shop because the models that were on it from Roush were discountinued. The tires I got looked like crap. I called Roush and got the new model # and ordered them from the local dealer to the tune of about 300 a piece.
Q: how do you replace the back speakers of a 2000 mustang convertible?
i went to an auto place and they said i must remove the back seats and then remove the back side panels.
Not sure if this is accurate or not. but even so, i can not figure out how to remove the back seat, let alone the side panels.
can someone explain?
or send me to website that may help.
thanks a bunch.
TRBMan
again, it is a 2000 ford mustang convertible with the mach sound system.
A: There are two clips holding the seat cushion down. Get a small to medium sized screwdriver and slid it in between the seat cushion and the carpet. There are two buttons(one on each side)press the buttons with the screwdriver and pull up on the seat. Once both latches are released the seat cushion comes right out.
After the seat cushion is out you will see two bolts holding the seat back on. The bolts are located at the bottom edge(one on each side). Remove both bolts and pull up on seat back, it should slide out(may take a little wiggling to get past the seat belts).
Next remove the trim piece at the bottom of the door openings. They're held by clips so pull up carefully.
The rear quarter panels are held in by push pins and clips, so all you need to do is remove all the push pins, disengage the clips and it should come right out. The speakers should now be in plain view.
Q: What would be better for a 2000 v8 mustang gt: turbo, twin turbo, or super charger?
I'm looking to drop a lot of money into my car and I was wondering which of these would be best for a manual 2000 mustang gt. I want a twin turbo or a supercharger, which is better and why? which has more power?
A: Turbos make more power but are more complex and more expensive than a supercharger.
Twin turbo makes more power but is more complex and more expensive than a regular turbo.
Superchargers make less power but are simpler and cheaper than a turbo.
Q: How long will a 2000 mustang last?
I am considering purchasing a 2000 Mustang with 115,000 and I was wondering how long it would last.
A: exactly 2594 days
Q: Can i find a 2000 and up mustang for under 5 grand?
im about to make my first purchase of a car im in highschoool junior year and been saving up for a while now and i have 5 thousand dollars to spend think i can find a 2000 mustang with less than 100k miles?
i have a job so i think i could do handle it how about a mustang 1999 and up for that price think i could find it i want a mustang b/c it has a 3.6 lt engine and 190 hp and its a v6 so it wont waste as much gas as the gt and big v8 do
A: If you do then buyer beware, the car will have more than 100K miles on it and serious problems that will cost you unless it's been highly maintained the last 3 years. Check to following closely: Tires, uneven wear is a bad sign. Brake rotars for wear, an expensive repair. Water in the trunk, a known leakage problem for the mustang. Rust in the cooling system. Oil on the pavement where the car is located. Smoke coming from the exhaust or under the hood (gaskets). These are problems in older cars, do not buy it for it's color, sport value, great stereo system, fancy rims, etc. ....all things that want to make you bite. Don't settle on a mustang, sure it's a cool car, but with gas and maintinence consider a Toyota or Nissan.
Q: What do car do you think would win a 1/4 street race 1992 Bmw or 2000 Mustang?
I choose Bmw but what do you guys think
1992 325is Bmw is 2.5L, V6 motor, intake, performance module, 2dr coupe, performance tires, stainless steel exhaust transmission is automatic with 221hp
2000 Mustang is V8 stock with about 300hp, automatic transmission.
Pick one
A: Mustang takes it in a line or corners. the Fox body mustangs needed help in handling but sn-95 (1994)mustangs greatly improved on that and improved again in 1996 with a new front spindles. When the new-edge mustangs with IRS further improved the handling. Where a non-GT "new edge" may not be inspiring, it will out turn a 325, the GT/Cobra will inspire. Torque and power will make lunch meat out of the beamer.
This is further upheld by SCCA solo classes, the mustang is in a faster class than the 325. I race my thunder bird turbo coupe in the same class as the 325, and they are not competitive, the 325 needs to be bumped down to a H class.
Mustang on all counts
Q: Can i get some help with my 2000 mustang GT?
I just bought a 2000 mustang gt and i love it. The car really gotten me into mustangs and i want to start working on mine. But i think i have a problem. I think i have a governor because i can not go faster than 110. I also have a superchip which may have been modified to not go faster than 110 by the previous owner. So my questions are, if i have a governor how do i take it off? If the super chip was modified, how do i modify it?
A: car came off the showroom floor with a mph limiter built into its computer -cant take it out can get aftermarket computers for them though
Q: How do you turn off traction control on a manual 2000 mustang? the autos have a button but manuals don't?
The 2000 automatic mustangs have a traction controll on/off button, but the manuals do not. I want to do a serious burnout but am worried that my traction controll is holding it back! If its even equiped with it. It has a light for it in the dash, but i'm not sure if its equiped or how to turn it off! Please help!
A: take it to ford and tell them you dont want traction control...or trade it in for an 03 I have a 5 speed and i can turn mine off..but if your not paying for it anymore i would thing ford or any other place that knows what there doing would turn it off for you..good luck
