Q: Will a 1999 Ranger truck bed fit on a 1994 Mazda B2300?
The 1999 Ranger is an Ext. Cab and the 1994 Mazda B2300 is a Single Cab.

A: Don't take my word for it, but I'd be willin to bet money on it only your tailights will be different.....long as the box length is the same why wouldn't it fit it's the same truck.

Q: Will a tranny from a 1999 ranger fit a 1998 Ranger?
I have a 1998 ranger single cab with a 2.5 I4, and the tranny went out. I saw a 4r44e from a 1999 for sale on ebay. I know it will bolt up, but have heard the electrical plug is diferent something to do with the spedo cable. Can somebody explain if and how i can make it work. And for anybody wondering why i dont just rebuild it, it has over 260,000 miles and rebuilding it would cost me over twice as much.

A: You should call a auto salvage in your area, they have books that can cross reference that information for you. But yes ,be careful when it comes to Fords. They will change up parts in the middle of the year. Good Luck

Q: how do i change the oil on a ford ranger 1999?
I have never done any car work, but I hear this is relatively easy. I would like to do this and avoid taking it into a shop... On average how much will i save by doing this myself?

Q: HELP Ford Ranger 1999 4x4 6 cyl auto real rough idol when in gear?
Anyone know what could be causing such an extreme rough idol when the truck is in gear---comes and goes when driving. My husband is currently deployed so although he could probably fix it I am left wondering what could be wrong and worrying about taking it in and it costing me a fortune just to find out what it is. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, the check engine light goes on and off periodically--on for weeks or for days and vice versa. Thanks.

A: Sadly, this could be any number of problems, or worse, multiple problems cropping up on you. A simple vacuum line leak, a grounded spark plug wire, a bad sensor, and many more could be the issue. Dealerships can do inspections, both visually and with diagnostic computers to help find the problem, but can be a little expensive. Pep Boys automotive can be a good source for fixes, as can your local corner garage. Find out who you trust or who is recommended in your area, and schedule an appointment for the diagnostic. As was said by another, often the cost of the diag can be discounted if the repairs are done the same day. Good luck.

Q: how do i drop the transmission out of a 1999 ford ranger 4wd?
i have taken everything off except the starter cable and it wont come out. haynes manual said to remove c clamp and then push in and turn and it would pop out...it wont and there looks to be a bolt holding it on but i cant get to it because its inside the tranny. any suggestions? the housing to the starter cable that is on the inside of the tranny blocks the bolt from me being able to get to it and i cant just push in and turn because the blot is right there. any suggestions?

A: un-bolt it -----it will drop right out.

Q: Anyone know anything about automatic shift of Ford Ranger 1999?
For some reason my truck shifted all the gears one to the right. (I.e. R is now Park, N is now reverse, D is now neutral, 2 is now drive etc). It was fine last night and now it's all screwed up. Is this a symptom of a greater problem or just an inconvenience? If you know what this is please tell me, and if you happen to know how much it might cost (ball park) to fix it that would be great too. Also is it okay to drive in this condition (Will it do any damage?), or should I get if fixed ASAP.

A: The indicator is a small cable that pulls the needle to the right gear selection. It is not unusual for it to stretch out over time and come out of adjustment. There shoud be a small wheel on the left hand side of the steering coulumn (you may have to remmove the shroud that surrounds the column between the steering wheel and dashboard). Turn the little wheel and the needle will move.

Q: What's wrong with the driver side door lock of my 1999 Ford Ranger?
The driver side door lock is stuck, the door won't open from the outside. I turn the key but it won't go all the way up. It's not a power windows/locks truck, it's all manual. I have to open the driver side door from the inside, after entering from the passenger side just to get in my truck. Anyone know whats wrong? Where I can find the door assembly schematic / diagram?

A: Had similar problem Are you using an original key or a copy? Sometimes locks spit a dummy. Try original key. Try a bit of lubrication in the lock. Good old WD-40 or CRC. Hope this helps.

Q: How many miles per gallon does a 1999 ford ranger get?
1999 regular cab 2 wheel drive. Manuel transmission. Stock

A: You forgot the important part.. If it is a 3.0 V6 you can expect about 15 city and maybe 20+ highway if you drive nice.. If it is a 4 cyl then you can up that by 5 mpg city and highway.

Q: I have a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 - the motor is locked up- body is good- interior good- new tires -?
I am trying to figure out what this truck is worth. The truck has been paid off for a couple of months- and I can't afford to fix the motor.

A: The value is going to determined by the truck it self does it have large tires lifted body flaws. Its hard to say without seeing it but I would think it should be worth at least 3 grand without a motor. and it depends where you are. Check Kelly blue book

Q: How do you remove the rear interior side panel on a 1999 Ford Ranger extended cab?
I have a dent that takes up just about my whole rear door. I think that if i can remove the panel it will pop out pretty easy. The only problem is, there are no screws on the door and i have no idea how to remove the panel. PLEASE HELP! thanks

A: If there are no screws (but I'm sure there are at least a couple) then the only thing holding the door panel on are a series of plastic pieces that snap into holes in the metal door panel. Make sure you look in the door handle recesses and if the vehicle has power windows you may have to pop out the switch panel cause they hide screws in these locations pretty often. Ford hides their screws in hidden locations. Start someplace on the door and get under the plastic outer panel. Using a light look inside the door and find one of these plastic pieces and pry up on it. It will pop out without too much trouble. Work your way around the door. Once they are loose then bump the door panel from the bottom to get it out of the channel it's resting in at the top of the door.

Q: 1999 Ford Ranger. I am rebuilding the engine, and my grand daughter mixed up the bearing caps for the crank,?
Will this pose a big problem when putting it back together? I have looked, and they aren't numbered.

A: The caps are randomly manufactured with the rods and then torqued into place and bored for the proper size and flush fit at the seams - if they are put back on wrong, the bearing life, assuming the engine doesn't seize up almost immediately, will be short lived indeed. My best advise is to take the caps and rods to an automotive machine shop and have them re bored. The machine shop will basically cut some material of the flush surfaces and re torque the caps into place and re bore them - and MARK them accordingly to assure that they go back the same way. Needless to say - in the future take a small pointed punch and mark all of the caps (one punch on the rod opposite one punch on the cap - two punches on the cap and rod on the next one and so forth until they have all been marked.) I know it's tempting, but if you try an visually remedy this problem and reassemble the engine - most likely all of your work will have been in vane.

Q: a dana 35 axle out of a jeep in a 1999 ranger trying to find a way to put the crossover steering any ideas?

A: Plenty of ideas, just very hard to explain. Look on Autofab's web site (Santee, CA) Race-dezert for x-over set ups for sale Blue Torch Fab has a kit I think Google Wrangler cross over steering for pictures

Q: I have damaged the internal retaining clips on my 1999 ford ranger fuel filter lines?
the dealer is having problems finding the part. where can i find this part without buying the whole fuel lines 1999 ford ranger 4.0 XLT The clip has 3 prongs will the 4 prong one work if the line is the same size and thank you both for the answers

A: Thats going to be a hard part to find, those little clips aren't really meant to be replaced on their own. However you do have two options, one being that you can go to the junk yard and see if you can pull them off of another vehicle. Not the easiest task, but do-able, just make sure you get ones that match, and invest in a pick set you won't be sorry. Your second option would be to go down to the parts store. I doubt that they would have the actual part or part number. However most parts stores have a help section ( Help is the brand, red packaging) and you might be able to find what you are looking for there. It would probably be mingled in with the uphostery clips, and liscense plate tabs. The little misc stuff that nobody ever really thinks about. Best of luck to ya!

Q: Have Ford Ranger 1999. The air conditioning only comes out of the defrost no matter what the setting.?
It is a 1999 with the V-6. I checked the vaccume hose connections under the hood and the ones I could get to under the dashboard and behind the radio but none of them seem damaged or dissconnected. Still though, I have no vaccume pressure at all. Everything else works fine, the a/c and the heater; it just comes out of the defrost and not the vents. What could be the problem?

A: Sounds like a vacum problem still... as vaccum opens and closes the doors... Check the line very closely from the engine back to the firewall.. had a few burn on the exhaust manifold and one where the vaccum resevoir (what holds the vaccum) was cracked and wouldn't keep enough vaccum to run the doors... But my vote is check for a gray line broken (burned) by the right exhaust manifold in the front of the manifold (right behind the alternator or so if I remember)

Q: How do I remove the ignition switch from a 1999 ford ranger?

A: a sledge hammer and a crowe bar and maybe a lil wd40
