Q: What is the difference between a ford boss 351C and a 351C 4v?
In 1971 ford made the 351C boss, what were the difference between this and the 351C 4V (CJ)
A: The Ford Boss 351 is a 351 cu in (5.8 L) 335 "Cleveland" V8 fitted with 4V (4V meaning 4 venturi (barrel) carburetor, not 4 valves) style closed-chambered 351C heads. The engine was available only in 1971 production Boss 351 Mustangs. It has four-bolt main block/caps and a premium crankshaft, as both are constructed from high-strength nodular iron. The cylinder head was modified for better airflow and solid lifters. It had an aluminum intake manifold and came with a Ford Autolite spreadbore carburator. Aluminum valve covers added to the look. The forged connecting rods were shot-peened and magnafluxed for strength, and used stronger bolts/nuts. Forged domed pistons gave a 11.3:1 nominal (11.1:1 advertised) compression ratio. Only 1806 Boss 351 Mustangs were produced by Ford that year. Currently there are only 591 registered and accounted for on the Boss 351 Registry site. The engine, like most Ford engines, was underrated. In the January 2010 issue of Hot Rod Magazine, they built a Boss 351 to exact specs of an original motor. It produced 383 hp at 6,100 rpm, and 391 lb-ft torque at 4,000 rpm.

Q: What are some of the downside risks of buying Ford stock right now?
Ford was recently at a high of 14.44 but now because of the crisis in Greece is down in the 11 range again. Is there much risk for Ford to go much lower? What are those risks? What would cause Ford to go lower? How could the Greek crisis continue to have a negative impact on Ford?
A: That's a very good question and I am wondering about this myself. I own several hundred shares of Ford (symbol F---quote http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=f ) and I own several options to purchase Ford stock at $9.00 and $11.00 over the next few years. To say that I am concerned is an understatement.
To review, Ford just posted a $2.1B profit in the 2010t quarter, with sales and earnings growth in all markets including North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Additionally, Ford Credit had a profit of $828M, as opposed to a $36M loss in Q1 2009. The company is solidly profitable but still has certain headwinds and crosscurrents to deal with.
The company has $31.3B in debt, of which $3B was just paid on their revolving line of credit. Ford has sold a lot of bonds, whose value has risen over 100% in the last year. However, their bonds are mostly rated as grade B which is considered "junk" status. Until Ford can reduce it's debt, which it is working on, their bonds will be continued to be rated as "junk."
However, the fortunes at Ford are looking up. They have sold 590,439 cars and trucks YTD in 2010, which is 34% more than the 440,045 sold in 2009. Ford's flagship F-Series truck line has sold 143,985 trucks YTD 2010, making it the highest selling vehicle in the U.S and is up 42.4% from 2009. This bodes well for Ford's profitability as truck sales add $4K for each sale to the company bottom line (source: CNBC.com) and Ford is increasing truck production in the second quarter of this year and plans in building 625,000 cars and trucks in the 2nd quarter of 2010. See the link to the Detroit News article below.
Ford has also benefitted from public perception that the company did not seek government money for bailouts as did GM and Chrysler, and Ford did not take the easy way out and file bankruptcy to restructure and get rid of it's debt. On the other side of the coin, Ford's $31.3B debt is the biggest issue hanging over the stock share price at the moment. More on that later.
Ford is introducing the new 2011 Ford Fiesta in the U.S. which is a car that is inexpensive but with a lot of features that will compete directly against the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla (link to USA Today review is below).
Ford also has partnered with Microsoft to include "SYNC"® which, according to Ford's website is: "SYNC is an easy-to-use in-car connectivity system, standard on all 2010 Lincoln models and available on select 2010 Ford and Mercury models. SYNC allows you to operate most popular MP3 players, Bluetooth®-enabled phones and USB drives with simple voice commands."
Now, to answer your question about Ford's stock price, the crisis in Greece has created volatility in the world's financial markets. Ford has a growing presence in Europe, but I don't think that Greece in itself will hurt Ford's stock price. The Greece sovereign debt issue will plague stock markets throughout the world unless a solution is drawn up by the European Finance Ministers as they are meeting in Brussels this weekend (May 7-9, 2010) and hopefully will come up with a solution that will re-structure Greece's debt. If not, the contagion will spread to Portugal and Spain, and may continue across Europe. This will create more volatility in the world's financial markets and we may see more selling on Monday May 10. IF this happens, Ford's share price may be on it's way back down to $10.00.
In summary---Ford is now profitable, but still has $31.3B worth of debt. Ford has a great mix of cars and light trucks, and is second in U.S. auto sales behind GM and ahead of Toyota in the U.S. YTD 2010. There is strong demand for their F-Series trucks, which is Ford's most profitable vehicles. Ford is introducing the subcompact Fiesta as a 2011 model which will be available mid-summer in the U.S. to compete with the smaller cars from Toyota and Honda. Ford has created excitement with it's newer vehicles including those mentioned above and also include the Ford Fusion, the newly redesigned Ford Taurus and the Ford Escape. A newly remodeled Ford Explorer will be introduced as a 2011 model.
Ford has public sentiment behind it because they did not accept government bailout money nor did they file bankruptcy. Ford's quality is now on the rise, and according to some reports, is the best in the industry.
Ford has a lot of momentum going for it and this is not a three, six or 12 month run. I believe that Ford has a 2-3 year horizon for it's share price to peak, and could reach $20.00 by 2012. Will Ford ever reach $50.00 again, like in 1999? Perhaps. Let's get to $20.00 first.
However, there are a lot of headwinds right now including the Greece issue which is causing uncertainty in the financial markets.
Alan Mullaly, the CEO,has done a great job bringing Ford back to respectability and profitability. Good luck.
Q: How much does it cost to fix the suspension on a 1990 Ford Tempo?
I know nothing about cars, and my 1990 Ford Tempo's suspension is all screwed up. I've been neglecting getting it fixed, and am now trying to figure out whether it's worth it to get it fixed. Anyone have an idea about how much I might be estimated to get that fixed? It's otherwise a very good car.
A: How long is a piece of string? The only way you will find out is to ask your local service man / dealer.

Q: How hard is it to install a body lift kit on a 2002 Ford Ranger?
How hard is it to install a 3" body lift kit on a 2002 Ford Ranger. Would you recommend doing it yourself or taking it to someone.
A: If you have never done one before, take it to a pro. Park brake cable needs to be re-routed, Brake lines lengthened if 4X4 floor shift lever needs extension. Will need stronger alternator to power electric fans because fan shroud will no longer fit the engine compartment, You may need different top radiator hose because of interference by idler pulley the wiring harness will stretch far enough with 3' and do not forget the bumper adapters for proper look. The bed is the easy part
Q: What made Henry Ford such a ardent promoter of the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion?
He passed out a copy of the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion with every purchase of a Ford automobile. Why would he have done something like that?
A: Old Henry was smitten with Hitler. Loved him in fact! It was a mutual admiration society between them.
I think Henry might have been a bit of an Anti Semite.
Q: What is the real situation about the Ford Motor Company?
Many articles in mass media describe the situation in the Ford Motor Company as very positive. Ford is developing very fast, sales are growing, and the reputation is on a high level. Do you think this situation is really so or it’s only mass media picture for customers?
Thanks!
A: I think you are mistaken heakel. It was GM who took government loans, and it is GM who is paying its loan payments with its US Government escrow balance.

The real situation about Ford is basically what you described.

As the article states, the selling of Volvo is a main reason Ford is seeing a much larger net income. However, the facts also state much increased sales performance globally, and reduced operations costs. Their vehicles are also receiving higher quality scores.
Q: So I have a Ford Escort ZX2 and the ignition and doors keys are different?
Like it says above, I have two separate keys for the car. But I heard that Ford cars only use one side of the key at any given time, meaning there really is no point of the double sided key except so people aren't annoying by having to put the key in the door or ignition. So I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get a key cut that has the ignition on one side and the doors on the other. What do you guys think?
A: First let me start off by saying ricks an idiot and has no idea what he's talking about.
From the factory if that's a zx2 it is a one key car. as the other guy said it either has had the ignition replaced or the locks on the doors have been rekeyed. What you've heard about ford keys was true in the early to mid 90s the old 10 cut key was replaced by the single 8 cut in the late 90s. What you've heard is no longer the case now. Ford stopped using the 2 key system around 96.
Hillbillies right about that being a mazda and the easiest way to get that key to work the door is to pull the door locks and take them to a locksmith and have them pinned to match the cut of the ignition key. normally It would be easier to remove the ignition but with that being a mazda type lock it will be a roll pin ignition a pain to service.
Q: Is Gulf gasoline a good gas to use in my 2010 Ford Focus, or would you recommend a different brand?
I wish to keep my new car running at peak performance, and good reliability. Is there better or worse gasoline brands for my new 2010 Ford Focus. It needs 87 octaine.
A: Gasoline is a commodity, like 2% milk, enriched flour, pine 2x4's, staples... The government defines how these items are made, gasoline has different formulas for winter, summer, and 20 other factors. I have heard some people swear for or against certain brands. My experience is that occasionally a certain individual gas station might not take proper precautions to protect their tanks from water or contamination. And I have gotten some "bad gas", but it has happened like twice in my life. Usually a bottle of 'heat', or something to rid your system of moisture, helps. And a dirty little secret..sometimes several different brands will buy from the same supplier. Go buy the cheapest gas you can find, and the lowest octane, your ford focus will be totally happy, it does not care what you pay.
Q: How are Zaphod and Ford related to each other in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book version?
How are Zaphod and Ford related to each other in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book version?
A: Zaphod is Ford's semi-cousin.
In the film I think they suggest they share 3 of the same mothers.
Q: When is a Ford going to win a Nascar race ?
I'm a Jack Roush fan but it seems like the FR9 engine is a boat anchor. It has no more power than the old engine. The Fords get smoked down the straights. It's making Carl Edwards a mid pack racer for most of the race along with Kenneth and Biffle. I can see why Kane wants to jump ship next season. Ford needs to go back to the drawing board with this engine. I think Ford builds some of the worlds best cars and trucks but they struck out on this engine package.
A: Well when NASCAR lets Ford bring another race package to the normal non restrictor plate tracks. Remember back right before the last 10 races of the 08 season, when all the Chevy lovers were hollaring and screaming, we don't have any power. Well NASCAR gave Chevy a torque enging package that gave them the definate edge, and Chevy hasn't looked back since. Now as long as the horsepower is even, NASCAR is going to turn a blind eye to Chevy having a 50ft. lb. torque advantage over the field. Then again this is the way NASCAR has always been, if Chevy loses a couple races, you can set your watch that Chevy is going to get something special from NASCAR. Kinda like back in the 84-87 years. Ford had found a good thing with the sloped back of the Thunderbird. That was the way Ford engineers had worked it out to be a great car. Not for just NASCAR but in their road cars, it was very effective as well. Well Chevy went on for 3 years without any change to their production Monte Carlo. Well Chevy fans wanted a change, and so be it, NASCAR let Chevy enter in during the middle of the season, the fake Monte Carlo, with the addition of the sloped back glass.
Or when Bill Elliott was dominating the tracks with his 351 Cleveland. His dad had went up north and bought a Dyno for Dan Elliott, from Roger Penski's Indy garage. Well Dan started working on the 351's heads and found a way to swirl the air going through the intake, into the cylinder, this swirl cooled the air, as well as the cylinder itself as it was entering into the cylinder. The cooler engine system then allowed the compression of the pistion to be raised. At the time most NASCAR teams was running 13:1 compression, but Dan Elliott was able to run some 14:1 and 14.5:1 compression ratio's and still keep the engine running in good temperatures... Chevy cried and cried, the best excuse they could muster was, "Oh, the 351C is a big block". NASCAR bowed down to Chevy and outlawed the 351C and destroyed all the work that Dan had done...
NASCAR turned a blind eye to Jeff Gordon's crew, for 6 years pulling the fender openings outwards during every pitstop, to actually help add downforce during a race. But stripped Matt Kensith of a victory for the top of his car not being in compliance or height after he jumped on it... Jeff probally had 30 victories during those 6 years, and nothing was ever said, NASCAR probally never threw a template on his car at all. Because the NASCAR head official over legalities was Gary Nelson, an ex RICK HENDRICK CREW CHIEF...

Q: Replacing a woofer with the Ford factory installed speaker?
I have a Ford. I replaced the factory speakers with woofers tweeters, and a passive crossovers. This is the second vehicle that I have had them in, and now the foam around the woofers are deteriorated. I can't afford to replace them, or repair them with a foam repair kit. Is there any problem replacing the woofers with the factory installed speakers, and leaving the tweeters and crossovers there? How bad will the sound quality be?
A: the sound quality will be extremely muddy but you stll be able to enjoy it allitle
Q: How do you remove a ford key tumbler?
I have a 96 ford mustang and the key tumbler currently went out on me, I have taken all of the stuff that is around the tumbler off to get to it, I just dont know how to take it out? Does anyone have an idea?
A: Turn the key to the run position and an the bottom side of the steering column is a little hole with a button that you push with a small screwdriver or punch. DO NOT turn the new tumbler until it is installed into the column. Put the new one in and turn the key and make sure it is fully seated and the little button is holding it into the column securely.
